The PZL-104 Wilga 35A is a remarkable aircraft. It was designed in the early 1960s but it took many versions before the developers arrived at the variant that became a common aircraft on many Eastern European airfields. After the collapse of the Berlin Wall many of the Wilgas found new homes in western countries where they still work as the reliable and sturdy aircraft the designers had in mind.
If you are only used to Cessnas or similar western GA aircraft, the Wilga might come as a bit of a shock! It’s far larger then it seems to be from a distance, and also looks slightly strange with its long undercarriage and the huge engine and propeller. Flying the Wilga is also something special; it's totally utilitarian, rather slow (drag is as huge as the engine!) and it feels like a much larger aircraft. It is totally dependable, however, very easy to fly and can be landed on a sixpence! It can even take up three gliders at the same time.
The Polish-built PZL-104 Wilga may lack the good looks of some of its western counterparts, but this rugged STOL utility aircraft definitely proved its worth over 40 years of manufacture (1962 to 2006).
Aerosoft's model comes in six different versions with a high definition VC, a realistic flight model, authentic sound set and many custom systems developed to bypass FSX limitations.
