This scenery for FSX and FS2004 depicts the former United States Air Force 'Twin' bases of Bentwaters and Woodbridge near Ipswich, as they were in their operational state before closure in 1993. The term 'Twin' is interesting, not just because these two airfields often shared the same aircraft types at the same time, but because at the closest points geographically, they are just two nautical miles apart!
The amazing level of detail you'll see in the scenery is a result of numerous site visits and much additional reference material supplied by the Bentwaters Cold War Museum. Almost every building has been modelled on each base in the condition they were at closure.
The scenery incorporates ground images from our VFR Real Scenery product, and the AI packages included in each version use creations with the kind permission of the good chaps at MAIW and include individual serial numbers and aircraft/squadron identities.
FS2004 Version (53.1Mb)
FSX Version (69.2Mb)
Work on this scenery package took over 10 months intensive work by a team made up of John Young, Ian McCartney and Stephen Legg of the ACG (Airfield Construction Group). The ACG consists of seven freeware scenery designers who work as a community on a range of modern and historic military scenery. Our thanks for allowing them to host this scenery.
We're sure you'll enjoy it immensely - please drop the ACG crew a quick word of thanks if you enjoy the scenery or post via the 'User Comments' section on this page!
