The first model of the 'Bird' Model A was introduced around September of 1928 and was powered by the ubiquitous Curtiss OX-5. Essentially a 'Sesqui-plane', 70% of its lifting area is in the thick centred upper wing. Formally introduced at the 1929 National Air Races held at Cleveland Ohio, the Bird generated a good deal of interest with its character and exceptional performance, demonstrating short take-off and slow speed characteristics unlike its contemporaries. The 'Bird' series included the A, BK, CK models and also the lesser known AT, CC, CJ, RK, E and F models. The most numerous manufactured, and most widely flown, were the A, BK, and CK models.
Developed with accuracy in appearance and performance in mind, the Golden Age Simulations Brunner Winkle Bird is presented in land plane and, in the case of the Model CK, float plane configurations. The simulator pilot has the options of flying the aircraft fully laden, with passengers, or solo. The aircraft is fully animated with tooltips active in the VC for all animated parts. The aircraft is fully compatible with all versions of FSX and P3D.
