Warsaw Chopin Airport (IATA: WAW, ICAO: EPWA) covers an impressive 834 hectares of land, making it the largest and busiest in Poland, with just under 40% of the country's air passenger traffic, with approximately 300 scheduled flights each day, and a rising number of charters with up to 34 operations per hour.
The airport originally opened in 1934, and has seen numerous rebuilds during its history, the most recent of which between 2008 and 2015 when it was fully modernised and re-built to it's current formation of two crossing runways (2800m and 3690m in length), a cargo terminal, passenger terminal and a number of hangars.
