The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 (NATO reporting name 'Fresco') is a sub-sonic jet fighter that was first flown in the USSR in 1950. 10,603 aircraft were built in total, with the Soviet Air Force, Polish Air Force and Vietnam People's Air Force the primary users of the aircraft. The MiG-17 was a development of the MiG-15, an aircraft that played a significant part in the Korean War.
The MiG-17 played its first role in combat in 1958 and, despite the fact that most variants didn't carry air-to-air missiles, it proved to be an effective threat against US aircraft. The Bear Studios MiG-17 is a highly detailed reproduction of this popular Soviet fighter and features numerous variants of the MiG-17, including the training version. Bear Studios have produced a faithful reconstruction of the worn cockpit and the aircraft even has functioning radar and ejection seats!
