All of us here at Just Flight were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Derek Davis, a very good friend over the years to many of us here at Just Flight and, of course, the longstanding Editor of PC Pilot magazine. We'll remember him with affection and will miss him greatly.
'The Baron' was most certainly one of life's gentlemen - always cheerful, kind and courteous and the Flight Sim community will be all the poorer for the loss of his endless enthusiam and the knowledge of a man who has been closely involved in flight simulation since its very earliest days.

It is with much sadness that the staff and contributors of PC Pilot magazine announce the recent passing of our long-term Editor, Derek Davis.
Derek became Editor of PC Pilot magazine in 2005 following on from writing for Computer Pilot. He quickly stamped PC Pilot with his own style and character and built a team of enthusiastic contributors, many of which are still with us today.
Derek was a warm, compassionate man, who despite suffering his own hardships including the loss of his wife Jane in 2015, was always at hand to steer PC Pilot through what has been a period of extremely rapid growth and development for the flight simulation industry. He continued to work until just a few short weeks before his death, ensuring the continuity of the publication.
Derek passed away quietly in late July after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends.
While PC Pilot will continue without him at the helm, preparations are underway to honour his long service to the flight simulation community by way of an industry award bearing his name.

Derek's funeral will be taking place in Bath on Wednesday 28 August and the service will also be livestreamed (10.15am) if you would like to pay your respects and join in with the service.
