Support for Cargo Pilot

• I am trying to install your software and my virus detection software has said there is a worm/Trojan/virus in the software. What should I do?
You can rest assured that there are NO viruses, worms, spyware or Trojans in any of our programs. However, some virus protection programs can sometimes identify the executable files in software installers as viruses. We recommend you install the latest virus definition update from your anti-virus provider. • Unable to Accept Job for any flights

If you are unable to click on the Accept Job button for any of the flights then this will be caused by one or more of the status bars just above this button being in excess of the limits allowed, such as fuel requirements and cargo volume.

Cargo Pilot reads the aircraft configuration files for each of the aircraft which you have installed in to Flight Simulator, and does this automatically by trying to use the figures which are in the configuration files as a way of representing them in Cargo Pilot.

Unfortunately some aircraft are developed with configuration files which aren't very accurate, either because the developers didn't know the exact figures, or the aircraft was found to fly better with more generic numbers and settings.

Cargo Pilot allows you to easily adjust the settings such as fuel consumption value in the Aircraft Configuration menu. This will override the default calculations. To access this feature select "Fleet Management", then "Aircraft Configuration".

• I can see no tracker menu within FSX. How do I start tracking my flight?
The tracker runs automatically in FSX. No input is needed in order to start tracking your flight.
• Activation code issues?

• I'm having problems with the Tracker, everytime I load FSX I get a message saying CPTrackerX has encountered a problem and needs to close

Please download this file: here  

Unzip it, then run SimConnect.msi

This is from Microsoft - it will automatically install SimConnect again (this is the module that's needed for communication between the Tracker and FSX). Once it has installed, see if the crashing persists. If it does, install the file below using the instructions provided.

Make sure you have installed .NET framework 2.0 and Cargo Pilot update 02 prior to installing the SimConnect file. If you purchased the download version of Cargo Pilot after 21st December 2009, you do not require Cargo Pilot update 02.

Extract the file CPTrackerX.exe into
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\CargoPilot\Presets\FSLauncher

Run Cargo Pilot, see if it's working. In case it is NOT working please include the following information when emailing us:


- Are you using the FSX Service Pack 1 or 2?
- Which Windows version are you using (XP64 or Vista64)?
- What kind of problem is happening? Is it a Tracker crash with an "Exception" error message or does the Tracker not connect to FS?

 

• I am having problems with my current flight/I wish to cancel my current briefed flight

Please go to :C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight X\Cargo Pilot\Profiles\[your profile]\Flights\

Now delete all the files from within this folder, restart Cargo Pilot and you will be able to create a new flight.

 

• I am experiencing some strange graphical issues with black patches/lines on my screen
Go into your nVidia/ATi control panel and set ‘anti-aliasing’ to ‘Controlled by application’
• Frequently asked questions

Q: When I start Cargo Pilot I get an error when it is trying to load up the aircraft database.

A: The reason probably is a corrupted aircraft.cfg file.
The possible solution is to temporarily move all aircraft out of the aircraft folder (except the default ones) and see if it's working then.

If it is working then you can try to move them in again - at some point the error should occur. This is where probably the faulty aircraft is.


Q: The required trip fuel seems to be calculated very erratically - I have tried this with several aircraft and even for a Cessna 206 the fuel which was quoted as being required was in to several thousand lbs.

A: You can easily adjust the fuel consumption value in the Aircraft Configuration menu. This will override the default calculations. On the main menu select "Fleet Management", then "Aircraft Configuration".


Q: I'm also not getting assigned short range flights. I want to fly shorter flights.

A: The range of cargo packages which are offered is based on the calculated/estimated aircraft range. Cargo Pilot only will offer packages that are for distances of at least 50% of the aircraft range. You can easily adjust this in the Aircraft Configuration menu as well by setting the aircraft range to a lower value.


Q: Are fuel stops allowed or part of the assignments?

A: Doing fuel stops on the way may make it look more interesting but in the end (form a commercial point of view) it's a waste of time - how far could you fly in the 30 minutes that it will take you to refuel your aircraft? Much like a Formula 1 race - pit stops should be limited to a minimum (ideally they wouldn't be required at all).

One purpose of Cargo Pilot is to monitor the flights so that they are not just being made up "out of the blue", and require a level of planning (even if it is just a minimal amount).

One part of this planning is the fuel calculation, and it doesn't make sense accepting packages for transport if my aircraft cannot handle the distance. In which case as a business you'd rather say "no, thanks", get another package instead and try to fly that in one go.


Q: Can I do multi-drop flights where I stop off at several locations to deliver individual cargo loads?

A: Unfortunately this is trickier to implement than it seems. The core idea of Cargo Pilot is having a set number of bases to fly from and to. So a flight should either start or end at that base for being rated properly. Everything between these flights is something that can be monitored by real persons easily but it's difficult to impossible (at least at this stage) to do it within the program.

If you are finding that your aircraft is flying back to the base "empty" then you could always look for a package which needs to go back to the base location, so as the aircraft isn't returning empty and is making money on the return flight.


Q: I don't seem to be making money after each flight? It's going to take me for ever to earn enough money to buy a new aircraft.

A: The individual income per flight is in about realistic ranges for "real life". However you obviously want to progress a bit faster through the simulation, and for this reason the "weekly report" has been introduced. With the weekly report you will find a drastic increase in cash due to the money from the rest of your company all going in to the pot of funds which are available to you.

Cargo Pilot has been designed to allow you to be flying a 747 from an international airport within 100 flying hours in regular career mode (quick mode will go faster, extended mode will go slower), and the weekly income system which is used allows for this pace of progress.


Q: Why doesn't the Tracker start automatically for each flight? I've flown a couple of flights now and forgotten to switch it on.

A: There is a reason to not have the tracker start automatically - there may be situations where you have to relocate the aircraft, load a different aircraft, make some settings etc without having the tracker active. For this reason the tracker requires this simple click to start it.


Q: Can I have the Tracker appear in the cockpit?

A: A tracker gauge is included, but as an undocumented feature. To make it work the gauge located in Presets\Tracker\manualstart\CPTracker.gau must be integrated in the aircraft panel of the aircraft you wish to use it with.
Then in CargoPilot.cfg change the line
useTrackerGauge=no
to
useTrackerGauge=yes
This will use the tracker gauge instead of the menu.


Q: Cargo Pilot has a message saying that it cannot move the CPTracker.dll file to Modules folder.

A: A very small number of users seem to be affected by this issue, and it seems that Windows is "blocking" these files - maybe Flight Simulator is still running in the background?

Try the following to see if it solves the problem:
- Shut down Flight Simulator and ensure there's no instance of it running
- If necessary try a reboot

Never run Cargo Pilot while Flight Simulator is still running. Cargo Pilot must be started independently from Flight Simulator.


Q: I have the demo version of Cargo Pilot. Is there any way to keep my company progress so as I don't have to start all over again?

A: Yes! Before uninstalling the demo just make a backup of your "Profiles" folder.
Then install the full version, copy that "Profiles" folder back and you will have your profiles in the full version.

• .NET Framework required

Cargo Pilot requires the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

If you do not have the .NET Framework 2.0 on your system you will need to download it from here.

Users with a 64 bit operating system (XP64, Vista) should download the 64 bit version from here.

• CD/DVD Emulation Error

Error Message: Cannot Locate the CDROM

CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and restart the game

You have received this message because emulation software or a virtual drive has been detected on your machine.

Typical emulation software includes Daemon Tools, Clone CD and Alcohol 120.

In order to play your game you must disable the emulator from trying to circumvent Safedisc.

Below is a list of instructions for how to do this in Alcohol 120, Clone CD and Daemon Tools:


If Alcohol 120% is on the machine:

Start Alcohol and go to the Emulation Options.

Select 'Emulation' from the options tree. Uncheck the 'Ignore Media Types' box to turn off the media type emulation.

Select "Extra Emulation" from the options tree. Uncheck the "BAD Sectors Emulation" to turn off this type of emulation, exit Alcohol 120% and restart the game.


If CloneCD is on the machine:

Look on your task bar at the bottom right of your screen (next to the clock). Locate the CloneCD tray icon, which can be a picture of two CD-ROMs or of a sheep's head. Right Click on the icon and make sure "Hide CD-R media" is un-ticked. Restart the game application.



If Daemon Tools is on the machine:

Right Click on the Damon Tools icon in the Task Bar.

Select the Emulation tab.

Deselect Safedisc.

This update

  • makes Cargo Pilot compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator X

  • adds some features to the program
  • adds a workaround for users who cannot run Cargo Pilot because of Tracker/SimConnect problems.

This is a cumulative update, it includes Update 01 and can be installed on any previous version of Cargo Pilot prior to version 1.3


GENERAL REMARK: MIGRATING FROM FS9 to FSX

Before uninstalling Cargo Pilot from Flight Simulator 9 you might want to make a backup of your user profile in case you wish to continue your progress within FSX.

Browse for the folder
[FS9]\CargoPilot\
and make a backup of the folder \Profiles\

Later - after installing Cargo Pilot into FSX - you can place this folder into the same location in [FSX]\CargoPilot\ and can continue your pilot career there.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE!
You can move profiles between Flight Simulator 9 and Flight Simulator X. However in order to fully make the profiles exchangeable you must make sure that you have the same aircraft and airports (bases) available in both Flight Simulators.


Installation instructions


1. Download the patch to your computer using the link at the bottom of the page.
2. Locate the CargoPilotSP2.exe file that you previously downloaded to your PC and run it by double-clicking on the icon.
3. Follow the instructions in the installer.



FEATURES, CHANGES

Fixed in this version:

- Program might crash when changing the PC clock and running Cargo pilot. Fixed
- A flight might not have been saved (due to special characters in the profile name or user name). Fixed.
- On some screens the program may have been out of center. Fixed.


New feature:

Airport information on Flight Management Screen
After a package has been selected the details for departure and destination airport of this package can be displayed.
Move the mouse over the label saying "PACKAGE DETAILS". The mouse cursor will turn into a arrow / question mark.
Left click to see the departure airport details.
Left click a second time to see the destination airport details.
Left click a third time to see the package details again.


Software changes due to FSX compatibility:

Operation of the Cargo Pilot software has not changed - with one main exception.
The Cargo Pilot Tracker (=the program which is monitoring your flight) now is fully automised and is integrated into the Cargo Pilot Launcher (the program which starts FS and restarts Cargo Pilot after ending FS).

Automatic FS start:
You must have selected the option "Start Flight Simulator automatically" on the Cargo Pilot "Options" page.
After clicking on "Fly Now" on the Cargo Pilot briefing screen, the Launcher/Tracker will start. It will also start Flight Simulator and will try to establish a connection to it.
In case of any errors or problems the Tracker/Launcher will display a message. In this case please try to deetemine the problem or contact tech support.
As opposed to the Flight Simulator 9 tracker you do not need to manually start the tracker.
Always leave the tracker running the the background!
When you flight has ended the tracker will display the message "Flight Completed".
Shut down Flight Simulator X. The tracker will end itself and will start Cargo Pilot.

Manual FS start:
You must have deselected the option "Start Flight Simulator automatically" on the Cargo Pilot "Options" page.
After clicking on "Fly Now" on the Cargo Pilot briefing screen, you will see a message, prompting you to exit Cargo Pilot and launch Flight Simulator manually.
- Exit Cargo Pilot.
- Launch the Tracker:
Browse for the folder [FSX]\CargoPilot\Presets\FSLauncher
and start the program
CPTrackerX.exe
The Tracker now will try to establish a connection with Flight Simulator X.
- Start Flight Simulator X.
- Load the Cargo Pilot flight: On the FSX main screen select "Free Flight-Load", then from the list select the "Cargo Pilot flight".
Always leave the tracker running the the background!
When you flight has ended the tracker will display the message "Flight Completed".
Shut down Flight Simulator X. The tracker will end itself. Start Cargo Pilot.


Using Cargo Pilot without automatic flight tracking:

Cargo Pilot offers the option to be run without any automatic flight tracking, that means: without the Cargo Pilot Tracker to be run in the background.
This can be particularly useful for users with SimConnect/Tracker issues, in particluar issues of this kind have been reported on x64 versions of Windows XP or Vista.
This option however may also be useful in case you wish to organise your flights in a way which the tracker couldn't handle due to its design, for example flights with a landing inbetween your departure and destination airport, landing on alternate airfields or flights that have been interrupted and picked up at a later time/date.
